Halwara Airport: Credit war between AAP, BJP fleshes out as flight bookings open

Economy class tickets cost Rs 4,000-5,000, with a 1 hour 15 minutes’ flight duration to Delhi

A credit war between Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu and Punjab Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora has surfaced again, this time over Halwara Airport ticket bookings. Arora posted on X that bookings would start soon, while Bittu shared a sample ticket, captioning it “New journeys begin”.

Both AAP and BJP appear set to claim credit. For residents, it marks the end of a three-decade wait. Arora and his wife booked the first two tickets.

A resident, Gauhar Vatsayan, booked a ticket for the historic occasion. Pankaj Sharma of Association of Trade and Industrial Undertakings said members want to travel on the first flight.

Halwara Airport’s civil terminal, spread over 160 acres, faced delays since 2018. PM Narendra Modi inaugurated it on February 1. Economy class tickets cost Rs 4,000-5,000, with a 1 hour 15 minutes’ flight duration to Delhi.
