Asees Kaur Brar (11), a trainee of Harvest Tennis Academy, Jassowal Kular village, has clinched the girls’ singles title at the AITA National Tennis Championship, held from February 28 to March 7 in Mumbai.
According to the academy officials, Asees staged a remarkable comeback in the final to defeat Vaishnavi Balajit 2-6, 6-4 and 6-2.
After losing the opening set, Asees displayed great composure and fighting spirit to turn the tide. She raised the tempo of her game with aggressive baseline strokes and excellent court coverage to dominate the final two sets.
Gurdeep Singh, vice-president, Harvest Campus; Hardeep Singh, director; Pardeep Kaur, chief coach; Jagbir Singh, head coach; and Gaurav Bhardwaj, tennis manager, said Asees made the state proud and her success will inspire a lot of young players to take up the sport.
“With this win, Asees has emerged as one of the most promising young tennis talents in the state, putting both the state and the Harvest Training Academy on the national map,” they said.
