Purvanchal Samman Rally aimed at wooing migrant workers

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will be in the city on Sunday to address the Purvanchal Samman Rally, said party workers.

They said the rally, to be held at Eastman Chowk, Industrial Area, Giaspura, is aimed at wooing the migrant population in favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the run up to the Punjab Assembly Elections next year. The migrant population here, primarily from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, is concentrated in the Industrial Area.

BJP’s Punjab unit president Sunil Jakhar and state executive president Ashwani Sharma will attend the rally as special guests. According to the party workers, the rally is also aimed at energising party workers ahead of the Assembly elections.

On Saturday, district BJP unit president Rajneesh Dhiman reviewed the preparations for the rally.

Dhiman said all arrangements have been finalised and there was immense enthusiasm among the workers.

Ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections due next year, Haryana CM Saini has been paying frequent visits to Punjab. He last visited Samrala and Machhiwara to for events related to the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) Act. More recently, Saini took part in an event for induction of prominent persons into the BJP.

A senior BJP leader said the Haryana CM will continue the visits to Punjab in the coming days to strengthen the BJP ahead of the Assembly elections.

According to local senior BJP leaders, a sizeable population of Purvanchali people lives in the industrial town, and their vote bank holds huge significance for the BJP.
