The Ludhiana police registered a case against a Haryana-based man who had sexually exploited a city woman and also extorted money from her on the pretext of solemnising marriage with her. A case was registered against the suspect on the charges of rape and fraud.
The suspect was identified as Bikram Singh, a resident of Kurukshetra, Haryana.
The complainant told the police that she had lodged a complaint against the suspect in June this year and after months of probe, the police on Monday registered a case.
She alleged that Bikram cheated her on the pretext of marriage. He had developed physical relations with her repeatedly at her house in the city without her consent and turned her pregnant. As she turned pregnant, he forced her to consume some medicine. He even took Rs 2 lakh from her and did not return the money.
The complainant asserted that despite sexually exploited her for long, he had refused to solemnise marriage with her. Following the betrayal, she lodged a police complaint and a case was registered.
ASI Sukhjinder Singh said after registering a case, further probe was launched and the man would be arrested soon.
