The Khanna police nabbed a highway vehicle robber and recovered two vehicles from his possession. The suspect has been identified as Arvinder Singh Ghoni of Doraha. Two of his accomplices, who managed to give a slip to the police, are identified as Harmanpreet Singh Ghora and Hem Singh of Doraha. Khanna SSP Harpreet Singh said a tip-off was received that the suspects, who had been looting cars at gunpoint from various places in the state, were spotted near Roul Bridge on Saturday in a Maruti Alto car, where they were attempting to loot a car. Later, a police party raided the place and nabbed the key accused, Arvinder Singh, while two others managed to escape. The SSP said the police recovered a Mahindra Scorpio and a Maruti Alto vehicles from the suspects. Scorpio (bearing a Haryana registration number) was forcibly taken away at gunpoint by the suspects from the Jagraon area at gunpoint while Alto was snatched from the Ropar side. The SSP said the police remand of the suspects would be sought for further interrogation to recover more looted vehicles and arrest other suspects.
