Ludhiana, January 14

The Focal Point police nabbed a drug peddler and recovered 35 intoxicant injections from his possession.

The suspect has been identified as Vivek Kumar Sharma, a native of Haryana. At present, he was residing in Bhai Himmat Singh Nagar.

Inspector Amandeep Singh Brar, Station House Officer (SHO) of the Focal Point police station, said a police party was patrolling near the Vir Palace chowk for routine checking. They got a tip-off that Vivek was into trade of smuggling banned injections. He was on the way to supply banned injections to his clients in the Focal Point area on his Activa scooter.

Accordingly, the police party laid a naka at the strategic location. The police signalled him to stop for checking. During the search of his belongings, 35 injections were recovered from his possession.

Brar said the suspect bought these injections at Rs 60 per piece. He was selling each injection for Rs 400 to addicts here.

The SHO said they would seek his remand to interrogate him further.
