LUDHIANA: The division number 7 police have booked the in-laws on the complaint of their daughter-in-law. Complainant Radha Verma of EWS Colony told the police that on August 3, her husband had gone to the market and she was alone at home.

LUDHIANA: The division number 7 police have booked the in-laws on the complaint of their daughter-in-law. Complainant Radha Verma of EWS Colony told the police that on August 3, her husband had gone to the market and she was alone at home. She said her father-in-law Nanku, and mother-in-law Mala thrashed her badly. When she raised an alarm, her friend Alka brought her to the hospital. The police have registered a case and launched further probe. TNS

Illicit liquor seized 

Ludhiana: The Salem Tabri police have arrested a liquor peddler and recovered 660 bottles of illicit liquor from him. The accused has been identified as Mahinder Singh of Chandar Nagar. Investigating officer ASI Kulvir Singh said during a routine checking at Chandar Nagar, a tip-off was received that the accused had stored huge stock of illicit liquor at his home. The police immediately conducted a raid and nabbed the accused red-handed with the liquor. TNS

Man held with 9-gm heroin

Ludhiana: The police arrested a drug peddler and recovered 9-gram heroin from him. The accused, Vishal Bawa, used to stay near Jain Dharamshala. IO SI Mohan Singh said during a routine checking near Khwaja Kothi, a person was stopped for checking and during the search of his pockets, heroin was recovered from him. A case under the NDPS Act was registered. In a similar case, the Haibowal police have nabbed a drug peddler identified as Harvinder Singh of Jassian and recovered 2-gram heroin from him. TNS

PO wanted for fraud nabbed 

Ludhiana: The Haibowal police have arrested a man wanted in a fraud case. The accused has been identified as Vijay Kumar of Durgapuri. Investigating Officer ASI Sukhwinder Singh said the accused had been facing a fraud case and was declared a PO in March 2019 by a court. Acting on a tip-off, a raid was conducted on Saturday and the accused was arrested. TNS
