Industrialists in the city are sore over the pathetic conditions prevailing in the Focal Point Area.
To air their grievances, the Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertaking invited MC Commissioner Jaskiran Singh at their office to apprise him about the problems being faced by them in Focal Point.
CICU president Upkar Singh said the entire Focal Point area was facing a number of problems, including bad condition of roads, unauthorised parking of vehicles, choked sewerages, non-functional streetlights and dumping yards among others, which need immediate attention. He said garbage was scattered all over and open garbage presented a dirty look emanating foul smell. He said industrialists were the highest payers for GST and other government revenue and provided employment to lakhs of people and were timely paying all MC bills. But as far as the facilities were concerned, they got none.
CICU general secretary Pankaj Sharma, pointed out that heavy vehicles were parked on both sides of the roads in Focal Point areas. He said industrialists and road users were facing a lot of problems due to bad condition and broken roads in the area.
Another industrialist Ram Lubhaya said the industry received buyers from all over the world, but such conditions presented a very bad and neglected picture of the industry. Streetlights remain non-functional, due to which the entire area remains in darkness after 7 pm and crime incidents increase.
MC Commissioner Jaskiran Singh said he would ask the SE-level officers and other senior officers to be in touch with CICU members to know about the problems. He assured them that there would be improvement in the coming days, as parks would be handed over to the industrialists and mechanical sweeping, too, would start.
