Narinderpal Kaur, a teacher, accused the principal of harassment and caste-based remarks, leading to strong protests by the teachers’ union.
Kaur claimed she was repeatedly targeted by the principal despite maintaining proper attendance. She alleged that caste-based slurs were directed at her, locks were placed on bathrooms, cleaning of her classroom was denied and she was refused leave even on the day of her engagement.
She alleged she filed complaints earlier, but no action was taken. Her last complaint was filed on December 1 last year.
Principal Sukhdhir Singh Sekhon, however, rejected the allegations and termed them an “attempt to malign the school’s reputation”. He said Kaur had been reported to the Education Department for dereliction of duty and irresponsible behaviour and lodged the complaint to avoid accountability.
Sekhon pointed out that during a staff meeting convened by District Education Officer Dimple Madan on December 26, 2025, Kaur failed to present any evidence. Inquiry officer Parmjeet Singh visited the school on January 15 and 21, but no proof was provided to him as well, Sekhon said.
He alleged Kaur was absent from January 17 to 19 and a report was submitted. He alleged that the protest was staged to obstruct the inquiry and warned of legal action.
