Acting Akal Takht Jathedar Kuldip Singh Gargaj on Tuesday urged Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to reinstate security provided to Baba Ghalla Singh of the Nanaksar sect.

The security cover, provided for over two decades, was recently withdrawn after Baba Ghalla Singh announced support to the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) during an event at Nanaksar Kaleran. He had called upon people to support of former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.

Extending support to Ghalla Singh during a visit to Nanaksar gurdwara at Jhordan village, Gargaj expressed regret that the state government had shown “utter disrespect” to a religious sect by arbitrarily withdrawing the security. He termed the move “political vengeance”.
