Kaithal team unearths sex-test racket

Ludhiana, December 13

Acting on a tip-off, the health officials from Kaithal in Haryana and their Ludhiana counterparts today conducted a joint raid at Jadtoli village and arrested a resident of the village for illegally conducting sex-determination tests at his residence. His wife conducted the tests.

Sukhwinder, a resident of Patiala, along with a decoy, visited Amarjeet’s residence in the morning. Amarjeet’s wife told Sukhwinder that she would charge Rs 20,000 for conducting a sex-determination test on the decoy’s foetus.

While both Sukhwinder and Amarjeet were returning after getting the test done on the decoy, the health officials caught them and also recovered Rs 20,000 from them, said Dr Parwinder Pal Singh Sidhu, Civil Surgeon.

The team also raided Amarjeet’s house and recovered a foetal doppler. — TNS
