Eight KCW students honoured for outstanding performances
Students of Khalsa College for Women (KCW) earned accolades and recognition at the annual sports prize distribution function organised by the Panjab University (PU) in Chandigarh on Wednesday.
A total of eight KCW students were honoured for their outstanding performances in multiple disciplines.
The college cemented its status as a sports powerhouse by securing overall trophies in basketball and track cycling, highlighting its strong and consistent performance across team and individual events.
Muskan Rathi was recognised for her achievements in judo, Hakikat Kaur Grewal for athletics and Jasmeek Kaur Sekhon bagged an award for performance in cycling.
The basketball players from the college had a field day, with five of them — Nandni Saha, Komalpreet Kaur, Nadar Kaur Dhillon, Chanda and Bhumika — getting awards for their contribution to the team’s success at the university level. Their consistent performances played a crucial role in the KCW’s dominance in the sport.
Adding to the honours, Navjot from the Physical Education Department was felicitated for her dedication and contribution in nurturing sports talent at the institution. The awardees were presented with cash prizes worth a total of Rs 2,29,000.
Kamaljit Grewal, principal, and Mandeep Kaur, head, Department of Physical Education, were honoured by Yograj Singh, the chief guest for the award function. The event organised by the Directorate of Sports, PU, saw participation from colleges affiliated with the university.
The principal and the managing committee congratulated the medal winners and appreciated the efforts of the Department of Physical Education. They said such achievements are a result of disciplined training, dedicated mentorship and determination of the students.
