Deceased’s husband Jaswant Singh, a resident of Guru Ram Das Nagar, Moga, told mediapersons that his wife, Jasvir Kaur (73), was suffering from liver disease. When her health deteriorated, he admitted her to a nearby hospital, from where she was referred to a private hospital in Ludhiana.

“On December 10, my wife was admitted to Orison Super Specialty Hospital in Sarabha Nagar, here. After nine days of treatment at the hospital, Jasvir Kaur’s condition worsened and she died on December 19. Afterwards, we requested the hospital to keep the body at its mortuary as my sons are coming from abroad. After my sons Balbir and Jarnail reached the city from Canada, we came to collect the body on Monday. However, when the hospital handed over the body to us, we were shocked to see that it was not her body. The body was of another woman, Manju (72). The hospital handed over my wife’s body to some other people who also reportedly performed her last rites,” he said.
