LUDHIANA: Ludhiana Basketball Academy eves (LBA) humbled Gurdaspur district 64-23 on the second day of the 70th Senior Punjab State Basketball Championship at the Guru Nanak Stadium here today.

Ludhiana Basketball Academy eves (LBA) humbled Gurdaspur district 64-23 on the second day of the 70th Senior Punjab State Basketball Championship at the Guru Nanak Stadium here today.

Kirandeep Kaur stacked as many as 21 points as the LBA players demolished Gurdaspur. Poonam was the standout player for the losing side, notching up eight points in the lopsided contest.

In another match of the women's section, Jalandhar and Ludhiana districts engaged in a neck and neck battle, with the former managing to scramble past 52-47. Pooja Bhatti led the way for Jalandhar as she contributed 19 points.

In the men's section, Faridkot district quelled a strong challenge from Hoshiarpur before romping to 81-78 win.

Hoshiarpur gained an early lead in the match and managed to keep their noses ahead till the end of second quarter (41-35). However, Faridkot bounced back in the third quarter as they not only wiped out the deficit but also surged ahead (66-58). In the deciding quarter, Hoshiarpur waged a spirited battle but that was not enough and they lost the cliff-hanger by a narrow margin of three points.

Randeep Singh and Sukhdeep Pal Singh of Faridkot starred for their side as they scored 33 and 27 points, respectively. While Rajbir Singh and Gurjinder Singh of Hoshiarpur contributed 28 and 18 points, respectively, to give the contest a shot of thrill.

In the second match, Amritsar district beat Ludhiana district 48-28. Tejinder Pal Singh nabbed 19 points, while Karan Gill scored nine points for Ludhiana district.

In another match of the men's section, Jalandhar district outclassed Khanna (Ludhiana) 51-11.
