Ludhiana, June 11
Lok Insaaf Party (LIP) leaders and workers staged a protest outside the residence of MLA Kuldeep Singh Vaid at Sarabha Nagar today. They were protesting against the alleged cancellation of blue cards of numbers of poor people.
LIP leaders Gagandeep Singh, alias Sunny Kainth, and Manjinder Singh Giaspura led the protest. Sunny Kainth said they staged protest at the office of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, Ludhiana, first but they did not get any satisfactory answer from officials. They then moved to mark protest outside the MLA’ house, he said.
Sunny Kainth said blue cards of many people belonging to economically weaker sections had been cancelled. He said: “We have raised the matter with the minister concerned but nothing has been done to resume the cancelled blue cards. The blue cards of poor people in various villages of Gill constituency from where Kuldeep Singh Vaid is MLA have been cancelled on his instructions. Thus, we staged protest outside the MLA’s residence today.”
He further said they would stage more protests if the blue cards of these persons were not resumed. Despite repeated attempts, MLA Kuldeep Singh Vaid could not be contacted for his comment.
Meanwhile, social distancing was not maintained by some LIP leaders and workers during the protest. Even some protesters got their pictures clicked without wearing the mask.
