Local Congress leader done to death in Ludhiana’s Machhiwara

Local Congress leader and block Congress chief Parminder Tiwari was attacked near Machhiwara in this district on Sunday evening leading to his death.
The incident took place around 6.30 pm when Tiwari was sitting outside the rental quarters near Takhran village on Hadiyan Road.
Two unidentified men came on a motorcycle, and one of them allegedly attacked him with an axe, repeatedly hitting him on the head.
Eyewitnesses said Tiwari collapsed on the spot, bleeding profusely, while the assailants fled towards Malwa Chowk.
Locals rushed him to a hospital at Machhiwara, from where he was referred to Ludhiana. However, doctors there declared him dead on arrival.
Koom Kalan police station SHO Paramdeep Singh said efforts are on to identify and trace the assailants. The motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained.
