Locals vow to aid police in fight against crime

Over 1,500 members of 385 units of Village Defence Committees and Ward Defence Committees vowed cooperation with the police in fight against social evils such as drug abuse and violence.

An oath to this effect was taken in response to a call made by Commissioner pf Police Swapan Sharma during the concluding session of an event held at Civil Lines on Thursday.

The meeting was organised to bridge the gap between the police and people. CP Sharma briefed the committees on the strategic success of police initiatives.
