Ludhiana Basketball Academy trainees reign supreme, emerge champs

Ludhiana, August 30
Trainees of the Ludhiana Basketball Academy (LBA) stamped their supremacy and clinched the titles in the boys’ and girls’ sections in the 24th Punjab State Youth (U-17) Basketball Championship which concluded at Guru Nanak Stadium, here on Friday.
In the boys’ section, Mansa district and Patiala district secured the second and third position, respectively, while in the girls’ section, Ludhiana district finished as runners-up and Mansa district had to content with the third place.
In the matches, played today, in the boys’ section, LBA players proved too good for Patiala district whom they drubbed 59-32 and Mansa district outperformed Bathinda district 82-64.
In the girls’ section, LBA routed Mansa district 55-18 and Ludhiana district overpowered Mohali 41-37 to finish on the victory podium.
Former international basketball player and Jagraon SP Parminder Singh Heer gave away the prizes. Teja Singh Dhaliwal, general secretary, Punjab Basketball Association, congratulated the winners and thanked the chief guest and other dignitaries present on the occasion. Members of the organising committee, including Sumesh Chadha, Vijay Chopra, Veerpal, Richu Sharma and Ajay Kumar besides coaches Rajinder Singh, Saloni, Ravinder and Sukhwinder Singh also attended the prize distribution function.
