Ludhiana: Basketball association pays tributes to IS Bindra

Punjab Basketball Association (PBA) on Friday paid tributes to renowned sports personality Inderjit Singh Bindra, who passed away on January 25.

During a virtual meeting, the association remembered Bindra for his contributions to sports in Punjab and India. The PBA passed a resolution acknowledging Bindra’s invaluable contributions to the promotion of sports. The association affirmed that his services to Punjab, both as a sports promoter and an administrator, will always be remembered.

PBA president RS Gill said Bindra played a pivotal role in the development of sports infrastructure in the region. Gill said Bindra was instrumental in the construction of athletics track at the Guru Nanak Stadium here and was a strong pillar of support for sports during his tenure as Deputy Commissioner in the early 1970s.

Honorary General Secretary Teja Singh Dhaliwal recalled Bindra’s efforts in the construction of the first indoor basketball stadium and multipurpose indoor hall in Ludhiana.

Members of the District Basketball Association said Punjab needs more such committed and honest officers, who selflessly inspire generations.
