Ludhiana, June 16
The Municipal Corporation has started a survey to collect population data for delimitation of the wards for upcoming MC elections. A meeting regarding the survey for delimitation of wards was held at MC’s Zone A on Thursday. The meeting was headed by Additional Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal.
An official of MC’s Building Branch, Raj Kumar said the work has been started to count the population of all 95 wards in the city. He said the delimitation of wards would be done on the basis of population data. He, however, clarified that the number of wards would not be increased this time.
Earlier, the state government had given directions to start the process to collect population data of each block through a door-to-door drive. The data has to be divided into three parts — total population, number of Scheduled Castes (SC) and those from Backward Classes (BC).
