Ludhiana computer teachers threaten to intensify stir over non-teaching tasks
Protesters also handed over a memorandum to the authorities concerned
The Computer Teachers Union here threatened to intensify protests if their long-pending demand to stop being put on non-teaching tasks is not accepted, said members.
They issued the ultimatum during the concluding session of a rally held at District Administrative Office, Ludhiana. The protesters also handed over a memorandum to the authorities concerned.
Vikas Sharma, general secretary of the Union’s local unit, said members, led by Har Rai Kumar, district president, organised the rally on Monday.
The protesters alleged the administration was “harming the interests” of students at government schools by deploying computer teachers on non-teaching duties.
They alleged no concrete steps were taken to meet their demands even as senior functionaries in the administration had assured them of being absolved from healthcare-related and other miscellaneous duties.
Pressing for an immediate order on stopping the additional duties, the union members pointed out that their job was to impart quality education to their students.
