Ludhiana couple, son booked for Rs 86.90 lakh fraud over fake Punjab Police job
Family allegedly promised government job under sports quota and business returns, then absconded with the money
A couple and their son have been booked by the police for allegedly duping a Ludhiana resident of Rs 86.90 lakhs under the pretext of arranging a government job in the Punjab Police department under the sports quota.
Despite receiving the money, the accused failed to recruit the complainant’s son and refused to return the funds. Apart from the fake job offer, they also promised huge returns on a business investment.
Complainant Parminderpal, a resident of Prem Nagar, Ludhiana, told police that the accused conspired together, promising to secure his son, Naman Goyal, a gazetted post in the police department under the sports quota.
They also lured him with promises of substantial profits in business. In exchange, the complainant paid a total of Rs 86.90 lakhs in multiple installments.
The accused — Harjinder Singh, his wife Kulwinder Kaur, and their son Unique Singh, all residents of New Shimlapuri, Ludhiana — are absconding.
“Neither was the son admitted to the position, nor were any benefits provided. When he demanded his money back, the accused began evading the claim,” Parminderpal told police.
The complainant alleged that the accused committed fraud and breach of trust as part of a well-planned conspiracy.
Based on his complaint, police registered a case and initiated investigation. Officials said that bank records and transactions of the accused are being examined.
