As many as 18 fresh dengue cases were reported from different parts of the district on Wednesday. A total of 1,522 suspected dengue cases and 1,038 confirmed cases have been reported from the district till date. Besides, a total of 263 confirmed cases have been reported here from other districts and 36 confirmed cases from other states.

 Larvae destroyed

  • The Civil Surgeon, Dr Rajesh Bagga, said Health Department teams checked larvae in different parts of the city. They destroyed larvae at Guru Angad Colony, Giaspura and Friends Colony and Jassian Road.
  • Dr Rajesh Bagga said pamphlets and posters were distributed to create awareness on dengue prevention.

Dr Rajesh Bagga said pamphlets and posters were distributed to create awareness on dengue prevention. The awareness drive was also conducted in offices for prevention of vector-borne diseases such as dengue, malaria and chikungunya, he claimed.

He informed that seven cases of malaria have been confirmed till date. He further informed that they have sent a list of 485 houses to the Municipal Corporation (MC) for issuing challans against them. Of these, challans have been issued against 184 houses, he said.

The civil surgeon urged residents to not allow water stagnation in coolers, earthen pots, tyres, containers and other waste articles lying in open or on roof tops. He also advised not allow to water stagnation in backside tray of refrigerators. He appealed to the people to wear proper full-sleeved clothes to cover the body and use mosquito repellents.
