Ludhiana hold grip over match against Mansa

LUDHIANA:Hosts Ludhiana held a tight grip over the match against Mansa in the ongoing Punjab Inter-District (U-19) Cricket Tournament under way held at Jathedar Santokh Singh Margind Sports Stadium, Dulay village (Phallai Sahib), near Ludhiana on Tuesday.

Hosts Ludhiana held a tight grip over the match against Mansa in the ongoing Punjab Inter-District (U-19) Cricket Tournament under way held at Jathedar Santokh Singh Margind Sports Stadium, Dulay village (Phallai Sahib), near Ludhiana on Tuesday.

Ludhiana restricted Mansa to 124 runs in the first innings and then declared their first essay at 194 runs for the loss of eight wickets.

Trailing by 70 runs, the visitors, in their second innings were one down for 10 runs, facing an uphill task. Still in arrears with 60 runs and one day to go, Mansa was fighting against odds to avoid defeat.

For Ludhiana, Gurmehar and Amitoj excelled with the ball again, sharing seven wickets between them in Mansa’s first innings.

Mansa (first innings): 124 all out in 56.2 overs ( Dipanshu 16, Suraj Chadha 10, Som Nath 10, Aramjeet 31, Jashandeep 22 and Chakshu Garg 13; Gurmehar 3 for 40, Amitoj Singh 4 for 46 and Manjot 2 for 17).

Ludhiana (first innings): 194 for 8 declared after 43.1 overs (Tikshan Tangri 55, Karan Dhillon 28, Jaish Jain 46, Vaibhav Kalra 31 and Harman 21; Subham 6 for 61 and Jaspreet 2 for 53).

Mansa (second innings): 1 for 10 after 2 overs (Deepanshu 2, Suraj Chadha 4* and Som Nath 4* and Gurmehar 1 for 2).
