Ludhiana lad Harviraj Singh wins silver in shooting championship
Harviraj Singh, an 18-year-old shooter from Ludhiana, has made a remarkable achievement by winning a silver medal at the ongoing 3rd Digvijay Singh Memorial Shooting Championship in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
A Class XII student at Sat Paul Mittal School, Harviraj secured his silver in the shotgun skeet event, competing in the junior category at the MP Shooting Academy, which is being held under the auspices of the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI). The championship attracted top shooters from across the country, providing a tough test of Harviraj’s skills and composure.
Harviraj, a trainee of Olympian Mairaj Ahmed Khan at Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range in Delhi, showcased his dedication and natural talent, finishing on the podium amidst fierce competition. Atul Singh Rajawat of the Indian Army won the gold medal, while fellow Punjabi shooter Harmehar Singh Lally secured the bronze.
Having taken up shooting just three years ago, Harviraj has already earned multiple accolades, including first place in the 2024 state selection, third place in the 2023 Punjab State Shooting Championship in Bathinda, and a silver medal in the prestigious Mavlankar Shooting Championship in Indore last year.
He also participated in the North Zone Shooting Championship held in Delhi. In an interview with The Tribune, Harviraj expressed that this achievement has greatly boosted his confidence. He now aims to compete at international-level tournaments, with his sights set firmly on the global stage.
