Ludhiana MC employees face action for ‘negligence’ in discharge of duties

Ludhiana, December 2

MC Commissioner Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal has ordered to suspend three sanitary inspectors and dismiss a contractual safai karamchari for allegedly showing negligence in discharge of their duties.

Following a report prepared by the health branch in charge, the MC Commissioner suspended chief sanitary inspector Jagtar Singh, sanitary inspectors Gurinder Singh and Satinderjit Bawa. He has also recommended that the case regarding these officials be sent to the Local Bodies Department for further action. Besides, the Commissioner has also ordered to dismiss a safai karamchari (temporary driver), Kulwant Singh, from duty.

Meanwhile, Municipal Employees Sangarsh Committee chairman Ashwani Sahota said action taken against these employees was wrong. He said they would start an agitation in support of the employees.

Following an inquiry regarding complaint into a road construction work in Sunil Nagar in Ward 94, the Department of Local Government has issued a charge sheet to three officers, including a superintending engineer, an SDO and a JE of the MC’s B&R branch.

According to information, a resident had earlier complained to the department that a road was constructed in a poor manner in Sunil Nagar. The Department of Local Government had formed a team to check the quality of the road. The compressive strength of some road samples was found to be less than required strength, as per information. — TNS
