Ludhiana players clinch 25 medals at karate tournament

A contingent of 15 players from the city put up a dominant display to clinch 25 medals at the 5th North India Karate Championship.

All the players were trainees of Ashok Karate School.

Around 400 players from across North India participated in the championship at SN College, Banga, Nawanshahr, on May 16 and 17.

Each of the 15 players bagged at least a medal.

Saakaar Chohan, Zorawar Singh, Mishika Sharma, Mihaan Singh and Soham Chohan won gold medals. Ishveen Kaur, Samarveer Singh Sandhu, Samardeep Shukla and Kanish Gupta got silver medals, and Azeezdeep Singh, Chahat Kaur, Sukhpreet Kaur and Agastya Arora bagged bronze medals.

In kata event, Jaspreet Kaur, Sukhmanpreet, Saakaar and Soham clinched gold medals. Samarveer and Agastya won silver medals, and Chahat, Ishveen, Samardeep, Mishika, Mihaan and Kanish Gupta secured bronze medals.

School director Ashok Kumar congratulated the players and lauded coaches Simran and Soham.
