Ludhiana police freeze 3 drug smugglers’ assets worth over Rs 1 crore

The action was taken in area falling under the jurisdiction of the Sidhwan Bet police station, they said. The action came as part of state government campaign against drugs, Yudh Nashian Virudh.
Sidhwan Bet Station-House Officer (SHO) inspector Hira Singh said notices were posted at the homes of the accused in various villages.
Police said Pritam Singh, a resident of Salempur Tibba, has serious cases registered against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The cases were registered in 2019, 2021 and 2024. Police froze three houses belonging to him with a total worth of approximately Rs 76.2 lakh.
Property worth Rs 31.2 lakh belonging to Raj Kaur of Hujra village was frozen in connection with case where 52kg poppy husk was recovered from the accused. Police also froze property worth Rs 17 lakh belonging to smuggler Gagandeep Singh, a resident of Baghian village.
The frozen assets can’t be sold or transferred in someone else’s name.
