“Police are examining all angles — whether the student slipped accidentally, attempted suicide, or was pushed. Further legal action will depend on the findings. The situation will become clearer after recording the student’s statement,” he said.

The SHO added that CCTV footage from the campus indicates that the student may have jumped from the second floor and was not pushed. However, officials said the exact cause will be confirmed only after a detailed probe.

When asked whether any suicide note had been found or if the student had communicated with anyone prior to the incident, police said it was too early to draw conclusions.

Second incident in 10 weeks

This is the second such incident reported at the university in recent weeks. In February, a first-year BBA student, Shabnam Khatoon, died after falling from the second floor of the campus. She had reportedly lost her balance while sitting on a stair railing while waiting for a lift.
