Ludhiana TT star clinches bronze medal at world para championship in Spain
In the ITTF World Para Future Costa Brava Table Tennis Championship
International para player Shubham Wadhwa, who hails from the city, clinched a bronze medal at the ITTF World Para Future Costa Brava Table Tennis Championship.
The championship was organised from March 26 to March 29 in Spain.
Wadhwa, a 10-time national gold medallist and winner of 17 international medals, finished at the podium in the mixed doubles category. In mixed doubles, he is currently ranked eighth in the world and second in Asia.
Expressing gratitude, Wadhwa credited the support extended by the district administration and his sponsors.“I am thankful to Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain, Dewaker Jain and the Red Cross. Their support gave me the confidence and resources to compete at the highest level,” he said.
Wadhwa said the backing strengthened his resolve and he has set sights on upcoming major international assignments, including the Asian Games and the World Championship in Thailand.
Congratulating Wadhwa, HS Chhatwal, president, Ludhiana District Table Tennis Association, and Manmeet Singh, general secretary, said with momentum on his side and bigger challenges ahead, he continues to raise the bar for the country’s para table tennis on the world stage.
