Ludhiana turns into a hub of new-age experiences
From kids’ techno parties to wellness runs, evolving trends reshape the city’s social scene
Ludhiana is fast emerging as an “activity” hub. Earlier known primarily for kitty parties and exhibitions, the city is now witnessing a shift, largely driven by the growing influence of social media on youngsters. Many are stepping forward to organise diverse activities catering to all age groups. From art festivals and techno rave parties for children (accompanied by parents) to run-and-rave fitness events followed by healthy breakfasts, Ludhiana seems to be hosting it all.
For the first time, a Kids Techno Party is being organised on April 19. The event will feature activities such as neon face painting, hair braiding, buzzer games, cupcake making, vibrant photo booths, and lock-and-key games. Organiser Sumeena Sood said this is a first-of-its-kind party for children aged 2 to 15, along with their parents. “This is an engaging outlet for kids to enjoy themselves,” she added.
Another trend gaining popularity, especially among women, is Mahjong. Raman Nagpal, who frequently organises Mahjong sessions in the city by inviting experts from Mumbai, explained that Mahjong is a tile-based game that originated in China. “It is played by four players and involves a mix of skill, strategy, concentration, and, of course, luck. It also reflects one’s memory skills,” he said.
Meanwhile, marathons and runs are also evolving with changing times.
Catering to health-conscious residents, Shiva Sachdeva of D’Karve is organising “Wellness Flow,” which includes a 5-km run, ice plunge, spin class, myofascial release massage, and a healthy breakfast. Sachdeva said the event is designed as a fun and energising experience for all age groups. “It provides a common platform to encourage each other to stay health-conscious. The two-to-three-hour event offers a refreshing break from routine,” he said.
