Take out candle march at Gurhe village in Ludhiana
Residents of Gurhe village took out a candle march to pay tributes to local girl Ramandeep Kaur, who died in road crash in Canada.
Nav Mann, sarpanch, said Ramandeep was a proud daughter who brought laurels to the small village by achieving success in Canada. Her demise was a big loss to the village and every villager was aware of her success in foreign land and how she struggled to achieve something in life, he added.
Mann said children, youngsters, elderly, men and women took part in the march to pay.
Meanwhile, the girl’s kin said efforts were on to bring her body to India. Relatives of the deceased living in Canada were in touch with the authorities there, they said.
Ramandeep had gone to Canada about seven years ago after completing her schooling here. After obtaining a permanent resident (PR) status, she got a job in correctional service in Winnipeg. A few months later, she appeared in the exam again and obtained a higher rank in the same service. She was transferred to Edmonton after the promotion.
“My daughter was very intelligent. She was already preparing for another exam to obtain even higher rank in the same service. She once told me that in few more months, she would attain another jump in rank and will call us to Canada. Her death shattered all our dreams,” said Ramandeep’s father Harmeet Singh.
