Ludhiana: Woman among 2 held with heroin

Ludhiana, June 17

The STF wing of Ludhiana arrested two persons, including a woman, with 990 gm of heroin here today.

A case under the NDPS Act was registered against the suspects identified as Karandip Singh Sheru (28) of Khud Mohalla and Jyoti Rani, alias Prabhjot Kaur (32), of Atal Nagar.

STF Inspector Harbans Singh said they got a tip-off that the duo was into heroin smuggling trade and they were on the way to deliver a huge quantity of heroin to their clients.

Accordingly, the STF team laid a trap and intercepted the suspects on an Activa scooter. The STF members signalled them to stop for checking, which led to the recovery of heroin.

During questioning, Karandip said he and his woman friend were into heroin smuggling since long and they both were also drug addicts. Karandip was already facing cases of murder, attempt to murder, drugs and Arms Act.

The duo also admitted that they had been bringing heroin from some big smugglers living in Ghora colony here and Delhi.

“We will take them on police remand to bust the supply line. Their further interrogation will lead to more recoveries,” said Harbans.
