Machhiwara clash: Ludhiana man succumbs to injuries at PGI

A week after being critically injured in a violent clash at Machhiwara, Ludhiana, Manpreet Singh of Lakhowal village succumbed to his injuries at the PGI, Chandigarh, on Friday evening.

On May 1, a clash between two groups in the Machhiwara area left one person dead and another seriously injured. Gagandeep Singh was killed on the spot while Manpreet sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the PGI, where he was battling for life for the past seven days.

Confirming the death, SHO, Machhiwara, Pavittar Singh, said the body would be handed over to his family after the autopsy. With the death of the second victim, relevant sections pertaining to double murder would now be added to the case. The police had arrested eight suspects in the case.
