A major fire broke out at a cycle paint factory in Phase VI of Focal Point last night. Goods worth several lakhs were destroyed in the fire.
According to information, the fire broke out at Roter International where bicycles are painted.
The incident occurred around 9 pm. As the factory was closed at that time, the local residents noticed the fire and informed the fire brigade. Within half an hour, the fire brigade reached the spot. The fire had already spread to the entire ground and first floor when the firefighters reached there.
Fire officials said had the fire spread to a godown in the back, where a huge stock of paint was lying, the entire building would have been reduced to ashes.
The fire officials said there were no fire safety arrangements at the factory due to which the fire could not be controlled at the initial stage. As there was power shutdown in the area due to rain, the firefighters had to go to faraway places to refill the fire engines.
While the exact cause of fire was yet to be ascertained, officials suspect short-circuit led to the fire. The fire was completely doused by 1.15 am.
