Man booked for sharing ‘false' posts about MLA Chhina, her aide
Complaint by MLA Rajinder Pal Kaur Chhina's media coordinator
The Sahnewal police have registered a case over false information allegedly being shared about Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Rajinder Pal Kaur Chhina and her media coordinator, said officials.
They said one one Mandeep Singh Duggal has been booked under sections of the IT Act and Section 353 (statements conducing to public mischief) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
According to the officials, the FIR comes after an inquiry into a complaint filed by Vishal Kumar, a resident of Harkrishan Nagar in Shimlapuri. Kumar is the media coordinator of MLA Chhina.
In his complaint, he alleged the accused was spreading “baseless allegations and false information” about the MLA and him on social media, particularly Facebook.
The complainant added that the accused, in an attempt to tarnish his public image, uploaded a video on Facebook without his permission. He added that Duggal “tried to defame” the MLA and him by levelling baseless and wrong information.
Sahnewal Station-House Officer (SHO) Amritpal Singh said the case was registered after verifying the authenticity of the charge.
“The police are trying to arrest the accused at the earliest. Once his is in custody, his social media accounts and the activities will be investigated closely to collect information related to the case,” he added.
