The court sentenced the accused to rigorous life imprisonment under the POCSO Act. A fine of Rs 1 lakh was also imposed on him.
District Attorney Ravinder Abrol said the case was registered on July 12, 2015, at the Daba police station following a complaint by the accused’s wife.
The complainant had told the police that her marriage was solemnised with the accused nine years ago and four children were born in the wedlock. The victim was the eldest daughter. One daughter had died and another was sold by the accused to someone, she said.
Her husband used to consume intoxicants and beat her up. She was tolerating all cruelties of her husband as she had married Sunil against the wishes of her family, she added.
On July 6, 2015, at 07:30 pm, she had gone to a shop after her husband asked her to fetch something. In her absence, the accused sexually abused his own daughter.
