Ludhiana: A 57-year-old man attempted to rape a three-and-a-half-year-old daughter of his tenant at Mohalla Guru Nanak Nagar. The Police Division 7 registered a case under Section 376 of the IPC and POCSO Act against Mohinder Podar on Saturday. He was arrested by the police on Sunday. The girl’s mother had complained to the police that on November 23 when she was busy in some house chores, their landlord Mohinder entered their house and after finding her daughter alone in the room, he attempted to rape her. “I came to know about the ghastly act of our landlord on Saturday when my daughter expressed pain in her private part. When I asked her, she revealed about the rape attempt. I immediately rushed her to a hospital and informed the police,” the victim’s mother said. Investigation officer ASI Karnail Singh of Police Division 7 said acting on a tip-off about the whereabouts of the accused, raid was conducted and the accused was arrested on Sunday. TNS
