Man held with 80-litre illicit liquor

The Ludhiana rural police arrested a man after recovering 80 litres of allegedly illegal liquor from a “micro distillery” being run at his residence at Lakha village, said officials.

They said the equipment used in preparing the liquor, including a gas cylinder and oven utensils, was also seized from the spot. Police identified the accused as Harpreet Singh Banti, a resident of Lakha village.

Kuldeep Kumar, Station-House Officer (SHO), Hathur, said a police team, led by investigation officer Sulakhan Singh, raided the premises after receiving inputs about illicit liquor.

The police received information that homeowner Banti was involved in manufacturing illicit liquor at selling it in nearby villages.

Banti is a combine harvester operator.
