Man killed, his son hurt as truck rams stationary vehicle

A man died on the spot and his son was injured when a truck rammed into their vehicle which they were inspecting for a snag at Sahni village near here.

The deceased has been identified as Mohal Lal (50) of Neelpur in Rajpura town and his 26-year-old son Rohit Kumar. They were bringing medicines to be supplied at Kapurthala in a tempo when it developed a snag at Sahni village.

Rohit was rushed to Sidhu Hospital where the doctor referred him to Rajindra Hospital in Patiala.

A case has been registered against the unidentified truck driver on a complaint of the deceased’s brother Davinder Lal. He was following Mohan Lal’s vehicle in a mini-truck and witnessed the accident. The investigating officer, ASI Balvir Singh, said: “The truck had the registration number of Panipat. I visited Panipat where I came to know that the driver was appointed a few days ago and he has absconded. He will be arrested soon.”
