As many as 162 couples facing matrimonial disputes today attended a special camp ‘Know your case scheme’ for the immediate disposal of their cases either by the way of compromise and by mutual separation.

Additional DCP Gurpreet Singh Sikand supervised the camp at Police Lines and interacted with litigants.

ADCP Sikand said a total 162 couples had appeared in the camp.”Of the 162 couples, 25 agreed to live together with mutual consent while 20 sought a mutual divorce without getting into any legal fight. The rest of the cases were disposed of either by registering an FIR or by cancelling the complaints which were found false,” said ADCP Sikand.

Sikand said the scheme was stopped due to Corona but now it will continue in the future for early disposal of cases.

Meanwhile, Surinder Chopra, SHO, Dugri, said a camp was also organised to clear the backlog of cases. A total of 11 parties headed by investigation officers were formed in this regard. A total of 244 complaints were entertained in the camp in which people were apprised about the present status of the cases. The SHO said many cases were disposed of on the spot.

As per the police statement, in all the 29 police stations as many as 2,320 complaints were disposed off on the spot and 429 people took status of their complaint. Police Commissioner also visited various police stations.
