Ludhiana: Meeting of Hubs of Learning, formed under the leadership of Amarjeet Kaur Naaz, principal of Blossom Convent School, Jagraon, was organized at Guru Nanak Public School, Mullanpur.



Ludhiana: Meeting of Hubs of Learning, formed under the leadership of Amarjeet Kaur Naaz, principal of Blossom Convent School, Jagraon, was organized at Guru Nanak Public School, Mullanpur. Principals of St Thomas Senior Secondary School; Tagore Public School, Ferozepur Road; and MLD Senior Secondary School, Talwandi Kalan, attended the meeting to discuss the policy framework to raise standards of school education. Principal of all these schools discussed activities which are to be conducted in their respective schools and prepared an activity calendar.

Short story-writing competition

To develop creativity among students, Guru Nanak Public School, Birmi, conducted a short story-writing competition for the students of Class VI to IX. Students presented their ideas in a vivid manner. For the students of Class I and II, a story-telling competition was held to improve the fluency and pronunciation of English words. Principal Harjit K Dua appreciated the efforts put in by the students in both competitions.

World Environment Day celebrated

To celebrate World Environment Day, the NCC cadets of No 4 Punjab Air Squadron of Nankana Sahib Public School, Gill Park, planted saplings on the school campus. The cadets brought saplings of various flowering, shady and fruit plants, and planted them in the peripheral areas of the school ground and lawns. About 50 saplings were planted under the guidance of Ashok Kumar, the NCC Officer of the school. He motivated the cadets to plants more saplings in their residential areas as well. Principal Harmeet Kaur Waraich said the danger of global warning was looming large and it was the need of the hour to take serious actions for improving the environment. She suggested that to commemorate the 550th year of Guru Nanak Dev’s birth anniversary, the cadets should plant saplings on birthdays as well.

Tree plantation drive organised

An afforestation rally and tree plantation drive was taken out by No 3 Punjab Battalion NCC Cadets of Green Land Senior Secondary Public School on the third day of the Van Mahotsava week. As many as 106 NCC Cadets participated in the drive, in which they spread the message of saving trees. Principal Baldeep Pandher, along with the staff and students, planted saplings on the school campus. Students of Class I to XII were encouraged to plant trees in their surroundings. An inter-class poster-making competition was also organised for the students of Class XI and XII.

Investiture held

Maya Devi Public Senior Secondary School, Pohir, held its invesiture on the school campus today. Principal Kiranjit Kaur presided over the function. Taking pledge to hold loyalty, truthfulness and esteem, office-bearers of the new student council pledged to do their best. Students presented an elaborate cultural programme on the occasion.
