Cabinet Minister for Industry and Commerce Gurkirat Singh Kotli laid the foundation stones of Rasoolda-Khanna-Malerkotla road and Ikolaha-Bhummadi road here today.
Residents of the region falling under the Payal and Khanna Assembly segments had been waiting for the construction of these roads for the past over four decades. Though the then PWD Minister Randhir Singh Cheema had laid the foundation stones of these roads during the SAD regime in 1975, the residents said the project did not see the light of day till date.
The Cabinet Minister said officials concerned had been directed to ensure that the work on these roads should be started without any delay and completed as soon as possible.
“People of the region were suffering due to poor condition of roads. So, I took up the initiative to get some roads constructed. It will help people travel comfortably and safely,” said Kotli.
