A man alleged police inaction on his complaint as he suffered a serious injury after an iron girder fell on him from an under-construction building at Sardar Nagar here. He said despite submitting the complaint, the police were yet to register a case in the matter.

The complainant, Harwinder Singh, of the Noorwala road area told the police that on January 28 his younger brother Balwinder Singh was going towards DS Knitwear, where he works, from the Sekhewal Road side. When he reached Sardar Nagar, while passing near the under-construction building an iron girder fell on him and he suffered serious injury on his head. The building contractor and a labourer rushed his brother to a hospital. After getting him admitted to the hospital, no one enquired about the health of his brother, who is still undergoing treatment there.

The complainant alleged that the incident occurred due to the negligence of the building contractor and owner. He had submitted a complaint at the Daresi police station but they were adopting a dilly-dallying attitude in registering a case.

Balwinder demanded that a case should be registered against the persons who were responsible for the incident.
