Mohali beat Ludhiana by six wickets in the first match of the One-Day Cricket Tournament for FC Mittal Trophy played on the Punjab Agricultural University ground here today.
Mohali skipper Gurkirat Maan won the toss and invited Ludhiana to bat first. Hosts could not survive their full quota of 45 overs (match curtailed to 45 overs each side due to delayed start because of wet outfield) as their innings folded at 129 runs after 43.1 overs.
Only Gurjot Singh put up some semblance of resistance, chipping in with 36 runs. For Mohali, Harpreet Brar and Varun Khanna were the main wicket takers, scalping four and three victims, respectively.
Chasing the target, Mohali scored 133 runs for the loss of four wickets in just 26.1 overs, wrapping the issue quite easily. Abhijeet remained unbeaten on 55 runs while Gurkirat made 38 runs to steer their side to a comfortable victory.
