Ludhiana, August 7

Leader of Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha Mahesh Sharma, along with Pushpender Singal, today staged a dharna outside the premises of Congress leaders Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Surinder Dawar and Rakesh Pandey over the recent hooch tragedy which claimed more than 115 lives in Punjab.

The Morcha leaders, who were carrying placards and posters in their hands, raised slogans against the leaders and the Punjab Government. They demanded that the leaders must not extend any kind of support to those found guilty in the case. The protesting leaders said the Chief Minister had vowed that drugs would be eradicated from the state, but the relatives of those killed by hooch were allegedly holding Congress leaders and their supporters responsible for the tragedy.

The leaders said without political patronage, the illegal hooch business in the state could not have flourished. They demanded a CBI probe into the incident.

Congress Cabinet Minister, Bharat Bhushan Ashu gave them a patient hearing and offered water to the protesters.
