National-level shooter kills MBA friend in Ludhiana village, arrested

An MBA student was shot dead at a shooting range near Talwara village late on Friday evening by his friend, who is pursuing law degree from Panjab University regional centre here, where the victim was studying MBA. The accused is a national-level shooter.

The victim’s friend shot Rajveer from close range in the stomach from his licensed weapon. The accused was arrested on Saturday evening. The police said questioning of the accused was on and soon the reason would be made public.

The victim has been identified as Rajveer Singh Khaira (25), a resident of Jagjit Nagar, Threeke village, and belongs to a business family. He was his parents’ only son.

The attacker fled after the shooting. Nearby residents on seeing the youth lying in a pool of blood on the road informed the police, which took him to DMC Hospital, where he died during treatment. The family has accused their son’s friend of murdering him. They alleged that the accused had lured their son away from home and taken him to the range. After a while they said they received the news of their son’s murder.

PAU SHO Inspector Vijay Kumar stated that a murder case had been registered against Rajveer’s friend Jugaad Singh, a resident of Pamal village.

“The victim and the accused were very good friends and they never had any dispute. What led to the shooting at the shooting range was being investigated. So far, the accused has been arrested and the weapon used in the crime has also been seized,” said the SHO. Asked if the shooting range was legal or illegal, the SHO said nothing could be confirmed at this moment.

According to the family, Rajveer was taken from home by his friend late on Thursday evening. Rajveer had even told them that he was going with a friend, they added.
