The Department of Food and Nutrition, College of Community Science, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), celebrated National Nutrition Month with a series of activities aimed at raising awareness about the importance of balanced nutrition across different age groups and communities. The theme for this year’s nutrition month, ‘Nutritious diets for everyone’ highlighted the need for adopting healthier dietary practices to promote well-being and sustainability.
A key feature of the celebrations was the nutritional counselling sessions, conducted for various age groups including children, adolescents, adults and elderly participants. Special attention was given to farmers, who received targeted counselling on the importance of nutrition in enhancing overall health. Mothers of young school children were also engaged through interactive sessions at Anganwadi centres, where age-appropriate guidance on balanced diets and healthy eating habits was provided. Further, the department also extended its outreach by setting up a nutrition awareness camp during the Kisan Mela at PAU. Besides, an inter-class poster making competition was organised on the college campus on the above mentioned theme.
