After winning the Ludhiana parliamentary seat for the third time, Congress candidate Ravneet Singh Bittu said it was not the failure of the Congress but it was the decision of the people to give five more years to the NDA government for finishing its pending works.

“Earlier, the UPA government was given 10 years by the people of India and now, they wanted to give five more years to the NDA government for finishing its pending works. We respect the decision of the people,” said Bittu who has won by a margin of 76,372 votes.

Bittu said the Congress lost the Bathinda seat due to Navjot Singh Sidhu’s remarks he made during campaigning. “Nobody is above the Chief Minister in the state and action should be taken against him. We will be opposing whoever speaks against the party or party leadership. The entire Congress is with Capt Amarinder Singh,” he said.

On Sunil Jakhar losing the Gurdaspur seat, Bittu said: “In six months time, they will repent their decision to vote for a person from Mumbai and rejecting a person from their own constituency. They will realise this when they will not be able to see Sunny Deol in their constituency.”

Commenting upon the declining share of votes of Bains in the Atam Nagar and South constituency, which were once stronghold of the Bains brothers, Bittu said people had made them realise that making videos did not serve the purpose alone but they had to work for the people to get their votes.
