Ludhiana, September 17

A case of medical negligence has been registered against doctor couple under Section 304-A on the basis of a report from the Civil Surgeon and preliminary inquiry by a board of doctors.

On January 15, Tarlok Chand was admitted to Arogya Hospital at Jassian Road for surgery. After surgery, the patient was shifted to the recovery room where a blower was kept in the blanket causing burn injuries on his legs.

The board was of the unanimous opinion that patient suffered burns at Arogya Hospital due to the hot air blower. There was delayed healing due to comorbidities and subsequently patient developed wound infection and septicemia for which he underwent right below knee amputation. The patient was admitted to PGI, Chandigarh, for reconstruction/rehabilitation before his death on April 19.

After submission of the report by the board a case was registered against Dr Ashish Ohri and Dr Shweta Ohri.
